Started in 2002, DGK has become the most authentic urban street brand in skateboarding and apparel. The acronym which stands for Dirty Ghetto Kids was what more privileged skaters at Philadelphia's Love Park called the original DGK crew because they were from the wrong side of the tracks. They took the name and branded themselves with it – turning the negative connotation into something positive. DGK represents making something out of nothing and accomplishing your goals against all odds. These themes are still the core values that can be found in DGK's message today. Overcoming adversity is something that everyone can relate to, which is why DGK has enjoyed a universal appeal among a diverse group of people. The brand has been embraced by everyone from the most core underground skateboarders to famous rappers to the everyday kid who is chasing his or her dream.
